Unbound Self
"Our heritage makes us who we are, what we think, and what we'll do. Don't cast it aside. Yearn for it... until all that's left is the future that you'll shape with it, forge it with your hands until it gleams like a blade's edge..."

History
Naiyo is a bastard son between a drow missionary and a half-orc blacksmith.
He was born in a village on the border called Montegro, and he lived there for most of his youth until his father died of old age. The loss impacted him spending time as a blacksmith, taking over the family business, and traveling a bit of Montegro until he met a half-elf rebel of the neighboring nation of Xhu who eventually visited his small town. The nation was a global, military power that forced its citizens to serve in their great army, and this man was a freedom fighter to oppose the dictatorship.
Naiyo ended up taking up the ways of the blade from this half-elf and implicated the idea of looking into his elven heritage rather than leaving it in the past. His mother had a brief affair with his father, and she managed to keep his birth hidden for so long while staying there to help Montegro improve with the current conditions as the area is infested by demons that roam the vast and decrepit plains. With time, he eventually found and reconciled with his mother, even settling down for a brief period with his first wife, but alas, the age of time proved to haunt the drow once again and she died at an old age as well. With another loss due to his lifespan outliving most others, the man decided to abandon the peaceful life he thought he wanted and set out to continue his trade of being an adventurer, and more specifically, and mercenary, unbound by any law other than his own. This was to live life to its fullest and spend it doing ever-increasing dangerous jobs and even living a sort of hedonistic lifestyle. It's clear that the bright rose-tinted shades of his youth had come to pass, and it jaded his outlook on being a hero, but regardless of that, he continues to pursue doing what's best for whoever he wishes to help. Whether this makes him a criminal or a saint, who cares, all that mattered was going with his gut, despite the trouble it brings.Currently, he's a wanderer, never separating from the road for long, and his goals align with unlocking more potential through his monastery way of the soul. And how hard he can punch someone with it.The world he resides in is under the current age of mechanical advancement, so magic, as well as steam-powered machines and firearms, exist, and thus, he adjusted his smithing talents to include the use of smithing and assembling firearms.
Miscellaneous Info
Unique Gear.
Superior Sending Stone:
A small stone inscribed with a rune that shifts slightly over time but retains the same basic shape, one signifying Information.Once per day, you may choose one person you know personally, have talked to for at least one sentence, or have a physical item from. Until the next dawn, you may manually open a connection with them to speak telepathically through any distance if you are on the same plane. Both of you may converse freely as long as the relationship remains upheld.
Boots of Intense Speed:
Leather boots with a small, winged design on their sides are colored to the user's choice. You may activate the Boots of Intense Speed, vastly increasing the user's speed. However, whenever you actively use the boots, you cannot stop running until the minute passes, unless forcibly stopped.
Spectacles of the Arch-Druid:
Attunement.Sets the user's base Wisdom to 18. The user gains a phantom claw, changing their unarmed attack to allow slashing and peircing. While wearing and benefiting from the spectacles, the user cannot willingly change their shape to that of a beast or similar using a wild shape, polymorph, or similar effect.
Hat of Vermin:
A small brown hat, in style with what a 'cowboy' would wear, with a chin strap hanging from the brim.
When focused on, the hat spawns a vermin. The type depends on what the user thinks when using it, or whichever is most in line with the user. The tiny creature spawns from the hat, the whole process taking approximately 12 seconds, crawling like a hole. It generates wearing the hat. The hat can not be taken off of the creature unless on purpose, at which time the animal dies and fades to mist.
He's always designated his rats with the name 'Mitch' after coming up with that for his first rat; ever since, when the rodent dies of natural causes, he calls the next one to appear the same title. The current Mitch also possesses their own magic item.
After appearing on an eldritch game show after a bit of chaotic magic, he won the ability to add a 'suffix' to a weapon. He chose his shotgun, and this was the result.
Chaos Magic
There are sources of chaos magic that either bring boons or banes to those who gamble with their effects, and predictably, Naiyo never passes a chance to try his luck. These are the results.
Beholder's 8th EyeOnce per day, you may use a beholder feature depending on your Eye. The eighth eye grants the use of the Petrification Ray.Petrification Ray: The targeted creature must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature begins to turn to stone and is restrained. It must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn. On a success, the effect ends. The creature is petrified upon failure until freed by the greater restoration spell or other magic.Naiyo got this by trading with an Ilithid merchant who traded his damaged eye for a new one, with another limb or organ traded, as his friend helped pay the price.
Tome of FoesThe user may choose either a type of creature or a specific creature. If they choose a variety of creature they gain the effects of Favored Enemy for that type. If they choose a particular animal, they gain knowledge of that one creature equal to everything that has ever been written about them. They gain the effects of Favored Enemy for that creature, a +1 to hit and a +1 to damage. Whenever they kill that creature, they heal one hit point. In this case, the chosen foe was rodents, and all vermin kind, allowing Naiyo to learn everything about them and the means to communicate verbally.
The Blessed -The user gains a pool of temporary hp equal to their level x 2 that refreshes each day at dawn
Lord of FliesThe user gains an aura of pestilence, gaining a Swarm of Insects as a familiar and immunity to poison damage while the swarm is alive. If the swarm leaves a 60 foot radius sphere of the user, it disappears counting as dead. Every day at dawn, if the swarm had died the day prior it will reappear around the user. The swarm can be dispelled with a DC of 14, untethering it to the user and causing it to become a hostile creature. Once untethered, the swarm will no longer reappear at dawn if killed.
